Has been a success. After a summer of feeling braindead and dreading the idea of returning back to doing art, I feel I’ve settled in well and I am currently working on developing my 2-D work. That being painting, print making, drawing and any other area of 2-D image making. I’m continuing to head towards the abstract route, following closely my interests in colour, texture, pattern, shape and composition finding the the visual qualities in it that interests me and stimulates my work and thoughts.
I want to find what it is that causes me visual interest in images of no form as opposed to form. (form being anything from grand masters paintings to illustrations of now) Not that I do not enjoy them, but what it is that makes me create the work I do.
I worked on some images today using colour, line and a range of materials, all on A4 paper, which I have scanned in and aim to manipulate to create a varied outcome diffrent to that of paint. I want to try and look past the material aethetic created and develop some images in which I can bring into printing. I also have a film to develop where I explored the varitey of textures I found using light and paper in a dark room from a porjected image, using colour to inform the the tone and image.
I aim to create a body of work that personally gives me clarity and answers as to what quality it is in the areas i’m working that interests me so much and a body of work that shows a range and development in image making, working with scale and also repetition.
